#Goals

When I set my goals for 2022, I included the following: Write a blog post every time I turn in an edited manuscript. Life interfered in March (I’m working on a blog post about it.), so I haven’t met my goal.

But that’s OK. My goal is a gentle one. I don’t have anything of serious value on the line. Meeting my posting goal is more about establishing a routine, a habit, for my editing business. I’m hoping that as I blog, I will learn more about myself, my business, issues in the publishing world, and my (potential) clients.

Some of you are working on meeting your goals for Camp NaNoWriMo this month. I’m impressed at how much you creative types can dream up, especially under pressure. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised about the pressure part, as I work best with a deadline. It’s just the thought of daily writing makes me feel the way my mother feels about snakes. (She’s not a fan.) And that’s why I’m an editor, not a writer, at this stage in my career.

I’d love to learn more about your Camp NaNoWriMo goals. In the comments, answer some of these questions, if you have a few words to spare:

  • Did you participate in NaNoWriMo 2021? Is this book related to that one?

  • What’s your goal for Camp?

  • How did you prepare for Camp?

Here’s an article about a guy who set a goal … and then exceeded it by a huge amount. Business Musings: Brandon’s Kickstarter (Don’t miss the follow-up post, Business Musings: What The…?

  • Have you ever considered running a Kickstarter campaign to fund your writing adventures?

  • What’s holding you back?

  • What support do you need to make a Kickstarter campaign successful?
