You’re worth the investment

Publishing done right typically involves a significant investment, with editing and coaching carrying some of the highest price tags.

But working with a professional editor/coach pays dividends for authors who are playing the long game. Lessons learned from a coach during the writing of your first few books and from a line/copy editor before launching your debut into the world will be carried into subsequent projects, extending the value of your personal and financial investment and potentially decreasing your costs over time.

The better you self-edit, the less time and effort your editor will need to put into your book, thus shrinking your initial outlay.

Reserve your place on Your Publishing BFF’s calendar by paying your deposit, then save up to make payments until your edits are complete. Coaching sessions may be purchased one at a time, or you can buy multiple at a discount. Write off the expense on your author business taxes, and remember:

You’re worth the investment.

Billing

I bill via Wave. Credit cards are accepted.

Project rates

My project rates vary according to how much time it will take me to complete the work your manuscript requires.

If you’re an excellent self-editor and your manuscript is relatively free of typos, dangling modifiers, missing words, and other errors, I can breeze through your project and thus can give you my best rate.

However, if you submit your first draft without doing any self-editing—without even running spellcheck!—I’ll give you the option to clean it up yourself. But if you just can’t wait any longer to have your completed book in your hands, I’ll do the tidying up for you. It will take me longer, so my rate will be higher.

My line & copy editing services include a style sheet customized to your book as well as conscious language checks, authenticity reading, and U.S. English localization.

I require a nonrefundable deposit of 25% of the estimated project total to reserve your spot on my editing calendar. You may reschedule as my calendar allows. The balance of the total cost will be due upon completion of the edits. Modified payment plans are available.

Additional services

Billed by the project. During your free 15-minute consultation, I’ll gather the information about your project and quote my fee. If you accept, I’ll invoice you for the full amount. When you’ve paid, I’ll get started! If the work takes longer than expected, I’ll bill you by the half hour.

TL;DR

All services require a 25% deposit before work can be done. All payments are made via online invoicing that accepts credit card payments. The final payment is due upon receipt of final edits. Payment plans may be discussed. All payment dates and amounts will be outlined clearly in the contract.

Availability of services is limited and based on scheduling.

All editorial services are done electronically using Microsoft Word. Please format all manuscripts and documents in Microsoft Word before sending.
